PBS Frontline Presentation: As for all the video presentations on the website, I agree with most of the videos and the parents' reactions to what they hear on the news and also what they see in their homes with their children. Teenagers in middle schools and high schools are affected the most by cyber bullying, predators on the Internet, and also videos that get them in trouble and they don't even know anything about it. When friends go out, they love to take massive amounts of pictures and also videos of nonsense, fights, or pranks made in the outdoor world. They then post it up on Myspace, Facebook, or Youtube and everyone gets to see it. If the police find it, or your school finds it and recognizes your face, you can get in serious trouble and that's evidence against you in a crime that you committed. Also, changing your identity regardless if someone likes you or not shouldn't be an option. You came into this world as a unique person and someone will like you for who you are. Not everyone will like you, but one important person out there will like you for who you are and not the person you are trying so desperately to be. Lastly, when children go home and meet with their family, that's your sacred time with you a family, and friends are not a necessity, they are a want in your life. The texting, phone calling, instant messaging can definitely be cut down to a limit. If you see them in school on a daily basis, you can see them tomorrow or another day. When you go home, it's time with the family regardless if you get along with them or not, family does come first.
Obama's Campaign: My BO was a great idea that was started especially for Barack Obama's campaign for presidency. I thought it helped out a lot and that's one of the reasons why he got elected for President of the United States of America in 2008. His implications for people to go on the website and see what was going on in his party and what changes were being made, and how it opposed with the Republican party did follow through. His methods to bring people together to comment on his actions and reply back with opinions was also something that people came together for. Meeting friends from 20 years ago was just a side prop. My BO is similar to a Myspace or Facebook, but more to the side where things are being done the right way.
Second Life: Second Life may be a gaming thing for people all over the world, but it can necessarily be a bad thing or a good thing. It could be a good things because it gives children some leisure time away from school so they can enjoy some free time with their friends playing their favorite game. It can be a bad thing because children do get addicted to games and concentrate more on that rather than school. I personally know students who go home and hope right on to the Internet, Xbox, or even Playstation and are online with their friends playing together. A perfect example would be Xbox Live, Gears of War 2. It's a fighting game where you have teams and your friends are on your team and you can talk to them through a head piece and fight in battle. Children do get addicted to those games and never focus on school or for the most part family. Meeting friends online and playing games with them makes you think you're closer to them, but what if their a predator just not on the Internet. Their substitution are online games rather than instant messaging, just like what I spoke about in the PBS Frontline section. Everything is linked online one way or another, it's your mind to set what's wrong from right.
